Wes Snyder has been named a 2026 Franchisee of the Year by the International Franchise Association.
He operates 17 franchise locations across PIRTEK USA, FASTSIGNS and My Salon Suite in Indianapolis and St. Louis.
Snyder has spent more than 25 years in franchising. He entered the industry with FASTSIGNS in 1998 and later expanded into other concepts.
Since joining PIRTEK in 2021, he has grown that part of his portfolio to seven locations.
Why multi-unit operators should care
Multi-brand ownership creates a leadership challenge as much as an expansion challenge.
An owner cannot remain the operating answer for every unit as the portfolio grows.
Every additional location increases the number of teams, decisions and daily issues that need capable people close to the business.
Snyder has created opportunities for general managers to earn equity.
That creates a path for employees with entrepreneurial ambitions while giving the business leaders with a deeper stake in performance.
The model becomes especially relevant in a portfolio spanning different industries.
PIRTEK, FASTSIGNS and My Salon Suite operate very differently. Growth depends on leaders who can carry real responsibility inside each business.
Operator takeaway
The real scaling test for a multi-brand operator is whether the business can make good decisions without the owner being present in every unit.
That requires leaders who can carry real operating responsibility.
Snyder’s use of equity for general managers is one version of that.
The broader principle is that ownership mentality has to spread before the location count does.
What to watch
Watch how multi-unit operators create deeper accountability below the owner level.
The strongest signals will be:
- equity or profit-sharing
- broader P&L responsibility
- clearer advancement into multi-unit leadership
- managers running units with more autonomy
Those mechanisms show whether a portfolio is becoming more scalable as it grows.
